Inspired by the fact that New Zealand is the youngest country on earth – in its geography and history, and that the Maori, first New Zealanders, only arrived 800 years ago, and being that 2017 – numerologically – is a ‘1 YEAR’,
During the 2017 Animal Dreaming Spiritual Safari and Retreat, it is envisioned that we will (among other exciting things):
- Learn about ‘animal medicine’ and how it can heal our life, help us manifest and offer protection
- Learn to look to the animals and other personifications of Nature as teachers, healers and guides.
- Learn to ‘read Nature’ (in a variety of ways) as an oracular source of divination
- Partake in a Medicine Walk to seek answers to personal questions (we will also incorporate Scott’s Nature’s Wisdom Message Cards into this experience)
- Learn to identify and interpret the countless signs and omens offered by Nature, from the colours of fallen leaves to seemingly random cloud formations
- Experience the Animal Dreaming Oracle Cards (including the World Animal Dreaming Oracle and the Bohemian Animal Tarot) for yourself and others
- Learn how to see and ‘read’ the colours that inhabit the aura of the other participants
- Learn how to see, identify and interpret the messages of the Animal Spirits and Totems accompanying the other people in the group
- Participate in a number of activities designed to bolster your inherent psychic and intuitive abilities so that you can confidently declare yourself to be ‘psychic’
- Partake in a ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ where we will encounter birds and animals native to New Zealand, as well as a twilight stroll one evening to ‘meet’ the venue’s resident Glow Worms
- Participate in meditative journeys to meet your power animal, to harness the healing energy of the animal kingdom and more
- Learn how to create prayer ties and other ways to offer gratitude
- A small Surrender Fire on the final evening, where we will partake in a ‘give-away ceremony’ while offering prayers of acknowledgement and gratitude
- Morning prayers of smoke
- Dream sharing
- Readings and divination techniques
- Crystal work
- Drumming and energetic healing
- And much more!
And on top of all that, as part of the 2017 Animal Dreaming Spiritual Safari and Retreat program, we will also enjoy three wonderful adventures:
Visit the Alexander family sheep farm, with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance, before enjoying a tour of the movie set that includes the intricate detailing, the most famous locations and how the movie was created.
Home to 138 different species and over 875 animals, Auckland Zoo has the largest collection of native and exotic animals in New Zealand.
Please note, the activities listed above are not necessarily set in stone and may be adapted, changed or abandoned without notice depending on the ‘flow’ of the daily program, the needs and interests of the participants and spontaneous events that may happen unexpectedly, adding to the magic and wonder of the overall experience.
Why participate in the 2017 Animal Dreaming Spiritual Safari and Retreat?
When I first began my journey, I was fortunate enough to find myself apprenticed by an Elder who had spent many years training under Elders of her own in New Zealand, North and Central America and here, in (Outback) Australia. I spent every day for almost 18 months working alongside Grandmother Dreaming Woman, absorbing what she taught me and listening to every word she said. Some days I just read, as she ironed or cooked, but most of the time we were engaged in ritual or other forms of ‘Spirit-work’. I know it sounds romantic to be taken under the wing of a well-learned Medicine Woman; to be personally trained in the ways of Spirit, but let me assure you – it wasn’t easy. I had to work very hard under her instruction. She made me appreciate what I was being offered and it was made clear that I would have to dedicate every aspect of my being to the process if I was to ever reclaim my Personal Power. I had to literally rebuild myself, piece by piece, after being weather-beaten and eroded by years of self-loathing, confusion and anger. At that time, I believed myself to be broken beyond repair. I had no idea of why I had been born or why I was still alive. Although I suspected that finding Grandmother Dreaming Woman meant something, I didn’t consciously have any idea what I was doing there. I didn’t know what she could do for me, or if she would be able to help me find myself (my family thought I had gotten myself wrapped up in some cult), but I believed her when she told me that Spirit loved me and that my life would never be the same once I opened myself up to – and embraced – my own healing. And that was all I needed to know.
And it is at this point in the Great Journey that I assume many of you find yourself now. Not really sure which way to go or which road to take, but inwardly knowing that you’re heading in the right direction. And that’s why I’ve decided to offer this Spiritual Safari and Retreat; a spiritual experience for you, about you and your personal connection to Great Spirit, the Earth Mother and Nature as a whole. But most importantly, it’s a Spiritual Safari and Retreat FOR you, ABOUT you; a spiritual journey of Great Remembering, a map that will guide you back to your authentic self. It’s may not necessarily offer you anything ‘new’ perse, but it will help you remember and regain your innate connection to the Creator Spirit and to the Spirit that runs through you, your life and all things of Nature.
So, see this Spiritual Safari and Retreat as a new beginning, and a chance to start over from scratch. To take what you THINK is true about yourself and to replace it with what you KNOW. By participating in the 2017 Animal Dreaming Spiritual Safari and Retreat you will remember how to trust yourself, who you truly are and how you fit into the greater scheme of things. It’s a way of helping you reweave your personal Web of Life so that you can reignite your passion, your knowing and your dreams.
This course content offered during the 2017 Animal Dreaming Spiritual Safari and Retreat isn’t about getting in touch with your Angels or Guides as such, but rather your connection to the Earth Mother and your physicality as a spiritual person. It’s your birthright to KNOW why you’re here, what your purpose is and how you’re supposed to live it out. And to bring this birthright to fruition, it’s time to stop eternalising and placing blame on others. It’s time to stop placing expectation outside the Self. It’s time to go within to find the answers to your own questions. It’s a time to trust, to take responsibility and to acknowledge that you hold your own fate in the palm of your hand. Instead of looking regretfully behind, hungrily into the future or, worse still, resentfully from side to side, it’s time to look to what the Earth Mother has provided for you NOW and to be grateful. It’s time to reconnect to her heart, her belly and her life-force … and to REMEMBER who you truly are, why you’re here and what you can do TODAY to start realising your full potential.
So, I guess all you need to know is that this Spiritual Safari and Retreat is designed to help you know yourself better, to help you remember your greatness and your medicine gifts; to reconnect and remember and to hone your inherent knowing, your intuition and your spirituality. See the 2017 Animal Dreaming Spiritual Safari and Retreat as a way of remembering how to trust yourself as you become your own guide and the master of your own destiny once again.

What Is Animal Dreaming?
‘When we look to the Medicine Ways of Nature, we see the Earth and all the creatures that live upon it, as messengers imbued with particular characteristics that offer insight into our own true natures. When we open ourselves to the guidance of Animal Teachers, we receive confirmation of our innate strengths and the medicine we need to heal life’s sorrows. When we experience interdependence with all life, we find our own honoured place in Creation.’ – Scott Alexander King –
With this in mind, it’s important to remember that Animal Dreaming is a philosophy far more than it is a faith or a belief system. It is a way of life that explores the innate inter-relationship we as humans share with the natural world. Being that we share the planet with other life-forms, including a plethora of animals – some of which, like us, are mammalian in nature, Animal Dreaming invites us to live in harmony with the world around us, to walk ‘gently’ upon the Earth and to see all living things as our brothers and sisters.
Although heavily imbued with traditional shamanic wisdom, I call my path ANIMAL DREAMING: a fresh, new approach to Shamanic lore that is easily understood and integrated into today’s modern lifestyle. Although contemplating the world from the two traditional and distinct shamanic perspectives: the tangible and the non-tangible, Animal Dreaming acknowledges, but rarely feels the need to implement any customary shamanic ceremony or ritual (as such) into its implementation. It simply asks that we live an interconnected life with the world around us – to ‘walk gently’, if you like. Following a more ‘animist’ approach, its message is simple: Look to the animals for guidance, interpret their medicine or Dreaming messages, and incorporate the acumen obtained into your life and give thanks. The animals never make mistakes and if we can heed their example, we will never make mistakes again, either.
People confuse the concept of Animal Dreaming with the new wave of interest directed toward Animal Communication, or the intuitive ability to talk to the animals. Although I appreciate and respect the concept, I am not a ‘horse whisperer’. I do not talk to people’s pets. I can talk to animals. We all can. But it’s not my strength. It’s not my medicine. Instead, I observe and interpret their tangible wisdom, demonstrated by how they relate to their kind, other species and their environment, and then integrate what they have ‘to say’ into my life. We are all animals – mammals in fact, and the understanding that we can communicate with the animals comes from the fact that we are all one. We all, ultimately, share the same thoughts. What I do looks at the wisdom of the animals from a medicine point of view. The animals understand their sacred purpose and they honour it, not to enhance their place in the world, but rather to demonstrate how we can enhance ours. The animals are tangible. They are real. Their wisdom is ancient and all embracing. When we begin to look to the animals for guidance, we begin to remember Spirit. Incorporating the wisdom of the animals into our life is as easy and as natural as breathing.
It is as simple as realising that if the Earth is our Mother, then perhaps we are her children, and just as any mother would want to see her children thrive, our Earth Mother’s love for us is no different. She supports us, cradles us and whispers her support to us every hour of every day. She speaks metaphorically. She uses symbols, and her symbols are the animals. My books, Animal Dreaming and World Animal Dreaming, were written as spiritual field guides, as interpretation manuals for the Children of the Earth Mother so that they may remember her secret language and once again look to the animals as equals, teachers, guides and healers. My workshops and seminars are offered as support to my books – to help people understand and assimilate the medicine ways of the animals into their lives on a day-to-day basis so that we may ALL heal and walk into the future united as a people. My readings, however, tap into the non-tangible realms by offering people the chance to recognise their innate animal aspect – their totems, power animals and animal spirit guides. I have been able to see, understand and interpret their messages for years, and it is with great joy that I share this ability with you.

He is the author of ‘Earth Mother Dreaming’, a shamanic workbook; ‘Indigo Children and Cheeky Monkeys’, the best-selling ‘Animal Dreaming’, a handbook that lists the spiritual and symbolic interpretations of over 200 animals indigenous and introduced to Australia, ‘World Animal Dreaming’, a spiritual field guide that offers insight into the wisdom of over 300 of the world’s most exotic wildlife, the bestselling ‘Animal Dreaming Oracle Cards’, the ‘Animal Dreaming Oracle Cards’, the Nature’s Wisdom Message Cards, ‘The Creature Teacher Cards’ (for kids), ‘The Oracle of the Innocent Heart’ and the ‘Bohemian Animal Tarot’. He’s also recorded three meditative CDs: ‘Meet your Power Animal’, ‘Healing with the Animals’ and ‘Celebrating Australia’s Wheel of Life’.
Scott’s unique ability to communicate with the animal spirit realm and the energies of the Earth began when he was just eight years old. As a child, Scott realised he could see animal spirits (not ‘dead’ pets, but the inherent power of animals that walk with us: the power that was once incorporated into tribal lore and labelled as ‘totem’ energy). Although Australian by birth, Scott looks to the animals from a global perspective: his knowledge is not limited to only the teachings of the Indigenous culture or Australian geography. He seems to have an inherent understanding of all animals – no matter which continent they inhabit. As a child, Scott relied heavily on his ‘feelings’ when it came to meeting new people. This energy warned him of deceit, rewarded him with promise and allowed him to successfully navigate his way through a very confusing childhood. As he grew this ‘energy’ took form until he began to recognise it as being ‘animal-like’ in vibration – energy that he felt a natural bond with, energy that has never let him down.
With years of study and practice, Scott has refined his abilities and is today Australia’s foremost Animal Spirit Mystic, nature-inspired Psychic Medium and Earth Medicine teacher.
Scott’s overall message is very simple: ‘The Earth is our Mother. We are her children. Like any mother, she wants us to grow, heal and unite as a people. She speaks to us every day. She speaks to us in a symbolic tongue. A tongue we have long forgotten and no longer understand. That language is older than words and is presented to us in the form of animals. The animals each have a message to impart. We need to look once again to the ways of the animals, and integrate their wisdom into our lives. The animals do not make mistakes. Spirit does not make mistakes. If we heed the medicine ways of the animals, we, too, will forget how to make mistakes. The ancients knew this ancient language. And we are being urged to remember it.’
Scott says, ‘I know this ancient language. I have done since I was a kid. I speak it – very clearly. And I am able to translate it. And from what I can tell, I am one of the few who remembers it so precisely. I understand things about people by simply looking at the animals in their lives, be they ‘pets’, intentional encounters or accidental ones. I can tell a person where they are at in life, why they are there and what needs to be done to resolve it by simply asking them about the animals they have seen in the past 24 hours.
I can also ‘see’ the animal spirits that surround them. I have been able to see them since I was eight years of age. And from these animals, I am able to determine much about their life, their loved ones in Spirit and the stuff going on in their life on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. They literally speak to me. This is my gift and it is my yearning to take this message out into the world.’
