Our Charities and Sponsors

Animal Dreaming Pty Ltd is proud to support the following Australian-based wildlife charities

Free The Bears Fund

The ‘Free the Bears Fund’ actively campaigns against the continuation of the dancing bear trade and refutes the argument that this is a cultural tradition that should be respected and allowed to continue. In 2008, Animal Dreaming helped rescue TARJAN; an adult male Sloth bear who was, at the time, approximately 10 years of age. He was rescued from Purulia in West Bengal. In 2009, Animal Dreaming helped rescue CAZZY and JOE,‘Dancing Bears’ both. At the time, Cazzy was 18 years of age, while Joe was only two. In 2010, Animal Dreaming raised $4000, which they donated to help fund a team of ‘Free the Bears’ rescuers as they secretly tracked Bears being smuggled via Tibet. In 2011, Animal Dreaming raised $1000, which they donated to help rescue, rehabilitate and rehouse another Bear.

The WA Conservation of Raptors

Amanda and Stuart Payne of the WA Conservation of Raptors are volunteer wildlife carers specialising in Raptorial Birds of Prey: Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Kites and Owls.
It’s interesting to note that any bird that preys upon another living thing for nourishment is classified as a ‘Bird of Prey’ (Penguins, Kookaburras, Pelicans, Ravens and Magpies, for example).
A ‘Raptorial Bird of Prey’, though, is easily identified by its sharp, hooked beak and powerful talons.
Amanda and Stuart have dedicated their time to this important work since 1993. Both work full time in completely non-raptor related jobs.
The WA Conservation of Raptors is not open to the public, but you can visit them on Facebook.

Zambi Wildlife Sanctuary

A unique animal welfare charity, Zambi is more like a resort-style retirement retreat for animals that have retired from life in the circus, entertainment industry, zoo breeding programs and private ownership. While Zambi’s focus is primarily on exotic animals (big cats, mainly), they also offer shelter to domestic, farm and native wildlife that find themselves in need of a forever home. Managed by highly qualified staff and volunteers, Zambi Wildlife Retreat ensures the health, safety, and dignity of all the animals in its care. Zambi is not open for public walk-ins. Instead, it offers exclusive visits by appointment only. Zambi was created with the peace, safety, and comfort of the animals in mind, which means its doors are only open three days a week to small groups of up to six persons only. For more information, please visit Zambi’s booking page. NB: LOTL Rescue, established in 2012, is the founding company of Zambi Wildlife Retreat. ZWR operates as a registered charity in NSW (Australia). CF23435 Amanda and Stuart have dedicated their time to this important work since 1993. Both work full time in completely non-raptor related jobs. The WA Conservation of Raptors is not open to the public, but you can visit them on Facebook.

Friends Of The Koala

The core objective of Friends of the Koala is to conserve koalas while preserving and enhancing their habitat. An important component of their work is the education of the community about the things that most affects koalas, while participating in and supporting relevant campaigns and research, and advocating or speaking up for this iconic native species. On January 18, 2020, Animal Dreaming, in conjunction with River Lane Ranch (located in Alberta, Canada), hosted a 12-hour marathon ‘READINGS FOR RELIEF WEBINAR’ in support of the ‘Friends of the Koalas Inc’, a charitable organisation based in Lismore, NSW, Australia, that took in many koalas affected by the devastating bush fires that were terrorising Australia at that time. With the support of those who joined in the event, we were thrilled to raise over AU$11500, every cent of which was transferred directly into the charity’s account. Unlike other koala/wildlife hospitals, the Friends of the Koalas Inc receives no government funding, despite taking in up to three times as many koalas annually as those located in other organisations. We think you’ll agree that a charity run by volunteers is a cause worthy of our support.
